What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Rossville Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. All things were created by, through and for God. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
 Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19;
1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Word become flesh. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was fully God and fully human. Born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless perfect life and by that perfect life offered the perfect sacrifice upon the cross to satisfy the debt of sin. He arose on the third day, demonstrating His power over sin and death. He has ascended to heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father awaiting His triumphant return. He is THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life for all!
 Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30;
Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4;
Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Great Comforter, co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. The Holy Spirit convicts each believer to repent and be Holy by obeying Jesus commands. He provides the Christian with the power and authority, through spiritual gifting, to carry out the great commission and build up the body, which is the Church.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 2:38
1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25;
Ephesians 5:18

The Bible

The Bible, as originally written, is God breathed, Spirit written, inerrant, authoritative, and living Word of God. The Scripture is useful in teaching, correcting, and training those in Christ. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, it transforms people walks from the flesh to the spirit. The Word also works in the lost, calling them to Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13;
Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

Salvation

Salvation is a gracious gift of faith alone. For man has sinned and fallen out of relationship with the Father. The gift of salvation and reconciliation comes from Jesus’ saving work at the cross and resurrection. The gift is offered to all if they will repent, believe, and accept the gift of Christ.
Eph 2:8; Rom 6:23; John 3:14-16; Rom 3:23; Acts 3:23; John 14:6; Acts 2:38; Titus 3:5

Baptism

Is the bodily obedience of the believer to God’s authority. It is our public confession and participation in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At the time of baptism, the believer receives the gift of the Holy Spirit. Baptism is imparted by way of full immersion of the believer into the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Romans 6:1-8, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:38

The Church

The Church is the body and bride of Christ. This means the believers everywhere no matter what geographical location. The Church has local congregations that carry out the mission of God found in Scripture by being salt and light to the World.
Matt 5:14; Eph 5:25-27; Rom 12:5

Eternity

Eternity has to do with the life we live now. Eternity has two options, eternal salvation through Jesus Christ or eternal separation in the pit of fire. Therefore, it is important to accept the gift of salvation now and live in relationship with Christ.
John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18;
Revelation 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9
